James Kipp of Montreal arrived at the Upper Missouri River at Fort Mandan, being employed by the Columbia Fur Company. Kipp married 1st Medicine Bird Mandan, 2nd Four Bears (Earth Woman) also Mandan and he was reported to also been married to the daughter of Alexander Culbertson son Joseph Culbertson and Mary Finley and Natawischicksina (Blackfoot).
